Are you a biker?

Not only hard-core cyclists, but also seniors and families can have the time of their life in the Brakel landscape. If you opt for gently sloping hills, then explore the area around Opbrakel, Zegelsem, Elst and Michelbeke. More adventurous (and more difficult) routes put you to the test around Everbeek, Parike, Nederbrakel and Sint-Maria-Oudenhove.
Four hills are legendary in the Tour of Flanders race: Ledeberg, Berendries, Valkenberg and Ten Bosse. Although the Buistemberg in Everbeek and the Parikeberg in Parike are also quite a challenge.

The bicycle monument (on the roundabout in Nederbrakel) is a memorial to the 2005 edition of the Tour of Flanders, when Brakel was chosen ‘Village of the Tour’. Peter Van Petegem, two-time winner of the race, is an inhabitant of Brakel.
